David Miller (Chair) is the Director of College Counseling at the Stevenson School, and has been in secondary schools for 40 years, 23 of those at Seaside High School. There he was English Department Chair, President of the Faculty Council, Head of the Gifted and Talented Program, Head Football Coach, and co-creator of a school within a school. In addition to college counseling at Stevenson, he has taught American Literature, coached football and softball, and has sponsored the Model United Nations group in his seventeen years there. In the community, David has served on the Lyceum Board and the Carmel Youth Baseball Board in addition to chairing the local alumni schools committee for his Alma Mater. In addition to running and working out, David enjoys golf, travel, and has built two houses.
Luis M. Alvarez (Co-Vice Chair) serves on the Development Committee and the Executive committee as Vice Chairman of the Board. In a little over nine years, he has grown his company, the Alvarez Technology Group, Inc. (ATG) from a small two-person consultancy to the premier information technology (IT) solutions provider on the Central Coast of California, providing IT services to over 100 companies throughout the state. Specializing in working with management teams within small and mid-sized businesses, he advises them on the latest developments and provides a roadmap for improving their operations through technology. In addition to his professional endeavors, Luis is heavily invested in the community, having served on the boards of several organizations, including Rotary International, Salinas Valley Memorial Foundation, the Oldtown Salinas Association, and the Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves on the board of the Monterey Jazz Festival and on the advisory panels of Hartnell College’s Western Stage and the business development group of CSU Monterey Bay. Luis has lived and worked in the Monterey Bay area since 1986.
Paul Dughi (Co-Vice Chair) has had a decade of service with the Red Cross including serving on the Board of Directors for Yakima and Kennewick, Washington chapters prior to joining the Monterey Bay Area Chapter in 2010 where he presently serves on the Development Committee. Paul is the President of Cowles California Media Company, which owns or operates six television stations throughout the state, associated with CBS, FOX, Telemundo and CW networks, as well as a network of 52 news websites on the Central Coast. He has 25 years in the broadcasting business working as News Director, Producer, Station Manager, and now Group President. Paul has won more than 25 regional, statewide, and national awards from the Radio & Television News Director’s Association, Associated Press, National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and United Press International for Reporting, Producing, and Public Service. He and his wife Michelle reside in Spreckels.
Jada Mattert Gurley (Secretary) has served on the ARC Board of Directors since 2001 and is Vice-President and Manager of Union Bank in Salinas.
Dennis J. Alexander serves on the Nominating Committee after serving on the ARC Disaster Action Team since 2003. Dennis grew up in Milwaukee where he received an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin. He moved to the Monterey area in 1990 to study at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, where he received his MBA, and served in the U.S. Peace Corps in the Philippines. He was elected to the Seaside City Council in 2006 where he serves on numerous local and regional committees and Boards including AMBAG (Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments). Dennis’s other volunteer work includes Rebuilding Together Monterey-Salinas (Board President) and the Monterey County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team. He previously volunteered with the city of Seaside’s Neighborhood Improvement Commission, the Monterey County Rape Crisis Center, and the Monterey County AIDS Project. Dennis teaches math at Seaside High School and is a Reserve Police Officer in Sand City. Dennis resides in Seaside with his wife Laurel Lee-Alexander.
Richard Briscoe serves on the Executive Committee and as Chair of the Nominating Committee. He was raised in Urbana, Illinois and went to school at Hanover College receiving a degree in mathematics. Richard attended Naval Officer Candidate School, and served three years active duty with the Navy, including a deployment to Viet Nam on the USS Long Beach. His professional career began with United California Bank in San Francisco. Richard was transferred to Carmel in 1974 and later joined First National Bank of Central California, where he was manager of the Monterey office until completing his banking career in 2002. He then obtained a real estate license, and joined Coldwell Banker Del Monte Realty in 2003. Richard’s previous board memberships have included the Boys and Girls Club, the Old Monterey Business Association, and the Monterey History and Art Association. He is an active member and past president of Carmel Valley Rotary Club, and also volunteers as a docent with Garland Ranch Park. His personal interests include hiking in the Sierra Nevada and along the Central Coast, reading, history, and golf. Richard and his wife Demi reside in Carmel Valley.
Taum Dell’Armo serves on the Executive and Nominating Committees. He was born in the Bronx, New York. He graduated with a B.S.B.A. in Advertising from City College in New York. He also received an M.S.B.A. in marketing from William and Mary College. Previous positions include serving in the US Airforce, Senior Vice-President with Ogilvy, Executive Vice-President with Simon Marketing in Los Angeles, and President, The Madison Group, Marketing Consultants. Taum has also done sales training for Elsevier Medical in New York and Amsterdam. His interests include tennis, martial arts (Samurai Sword, Tai-Chi, Aikido), Religion and Philosophy (Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism), writing, chess, backgammon, basketball and acting. Taum attended the Lee Strasberg School of Acting in Los Angeles. Taum lives on the Peninsula with his wife Diane.
Carolyn Keeler is originally from upstate New York and moved to California in 1974 to launch the beginning of a rich career is sales and marketing. She has owned and operated her own leather retail business. In addition, Carolyn worked for an art publishing company where she held a strategic role in the business expansion, and opening of many art galleries throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Carolyn presently serves on the Development Committee. She enjoys helping others by volunteering her time, energy and talents. She has been integral to several events such as The Quail Concours d’Elegance, the agility dog show, and the ARC holiday store. As a member of the Development Committee she is also active with the team that facilitates the 2010 Heroes Breakfast. One of Carolyn’s welcomed pleasures is living and now working in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Her interests include travel, reading, walking, hiking, biking and most outdoor activities.
Suha Kilic serves on the Executive Committee as and as Chair of the Finance Committee. He graduated from the Turkish Naval Academy, Istanbul with a B.S. degree in Operations Research and from U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey with an M.S. degree in Information Systems Management. He is currently with the Pebble Beach Community Services District as the Deputy General Manager/CFO. Suha oversees the District budget, Long-Term Financial Plan, and other finance and administration activities. He participates in the management of the District pension plan investment, supervises the district’s finance, accounting, administration and information systems as well as employee and contracted staff. He also oversees the contracted solid waste and law enforcement services provided by the District. Suha serves as the Chairman of the Monterey County Treasury Investments Oversight Committee. The Committee reviews investments of the County Treasury to ensure compliance with State Law. He also serves on the Finance and Audit Committee of the Association of California Water Agencies Joint Powers Insurance Authority (ACWA/JPIA) in Sacramento. He previously served as the Vice-President of the Turkish-American Association of California (TAAC). Suha is an 8 year resident of Pebble Beach.
Allan Marcus joined the Red Cross as a result of the World Trade Center disaster in 2001. He is a Supervisor in the DSHR system for Client Casework and has participated as such in four National disasters. He has served on the Board of the Carmel Chapter's Board of Directors and was the past Chairman of the Board for the Monterey/San Benito Chapter. Recently he served as Chairman of the Monterey Bay Area Chapter's Financial Development Committee. Allan is an active member of that committee, Youth Advisor, and Liaison to the Red Cross' Blood Services Division.
Robert Miller is on the Executive Committee as the Development Committee Chair and he also assists with Strategic Planning. Bob joined the Board in 2010 after retiring with 30 years of service to the Monterey Peninsula School District as a science teacher and school administrator. He was raised in Pennsylvania and moved to California where he earned his B.S. in Environmental Policy Studies at the University of California at Davis, an M.A. in Organizational Leadership from the University of San Francisco, and additional studies at UCLA in Management and Strategic Planning. His previous community work includes serving on the Board of Directors of the Monterey Lyceum as President, being a charter guide at the Monterey Bay Aquarium for ten years as well as volunteering at the SPCA Wildlife Center, Big Sur International Marathon, the ATT Pro-Am and First Tee Golf Tournaments, Laguna Seca Races, the Monterey County Science Fair, and the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Bob has lived in Carmel for 30 years and enjoys international travel, photography, and walking his dog.
Stacey Montoya earned a B.S.B.A. from Colorado State University and a M.S.B.A in Finance from Boston University. Her professional experience includes conducting financial and economic analysis and monitoring trade agreements for the U.S. International Trade Commission in Washington DC; serving as the Director of Product Management for OneCore Financial Network in Boston, Massachusetts; and working in European Product Strategy for Thomson Financial in London, England. In 2006 Stacey began coursework in Viticulture and Oenology at UC Davis to pursue her passion for wine, and in 2008 she established Chateau Bellamonte, a boutique Monterey County winery that produces 350 cases of wine per year. In addition to her extensive professional experience, her dedication to working with charitable organizations includes being a Board Member and Volunteer Advocate for CASA of Monterey County: Sponsorship Chair for CASA’s largest annual fundraiser; American Institute of Wine and Food National and Monterey Bay Area Board Member; Monterey Area Coordinator, Wish Grantor and Fundraising Committee Member for the Make-A-Wish Foundation; Former Tournament Director for the World Harvest Ministries Charity Golf Tournament; Former Committee Chair for the Santa Catalina Wine Tasting and Auction; and a member of The Lincoln Club. Stacey is an avid traveler, and makes a point of going to orphanages to deliver school supplies to children in the developing countries that she visits. She is a proud American Red Cross Board Member, and is excited to have the opportunity to give back to an organization that has given her so much!
Kimberly Perricelli grew up in Rochester, New York and attended the University of Notre Dame where she majored in anthropology. She has volunteered at soup kitchens, painting playground equipment, and also by touring with Up With People as a singer and dancer fostering good will in the communities where they performed. She currently works at the Pebble Beach Corporation as an Events Manager. Her desire is to use her profit world skills in a non-profit commitment. With experience and skills in sales, marketing, operations and logistics for a variety of employers, Kimberly has much to offer the Red Cross.
Bob Profeta grew up in Brooklyn and was educated as an engineer at City College of New York. He worked first for AT&T and then moved to General Electric where he was involved in the groundwork for the construction of nuclear power plants. This job brought him to California in 1965 which provided a home base for his extended job postings around the world including Spain and upstate New York. Although now retired from General Electric, Bob still does consulting work for various contractors throughout the year and also helps his wife, Judy, who is the Broker for their real estate business which is located in Carmel across the street from Bruno’s market. Bob will bring ample time, experience as a manager and executive, confidence that comes from running his own consulting business and being married to Judy Profeta, and people skills he has assembled from his various jobs and job locations through the years.
Terry Ream joined the Board out of a desire to expand his community service outreach and support the valuable service that the Red Cross provides to the local community. He is currently a member of the Nominating Committee. Terry and his wife, Theresa, are the owners of Ream Construction, Floor Store USA, Cypress Cabinets, Disaster Kleenup Specialist, and Excel Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning. He started in the construction industry in 1973 working for his father, and then started his own company in 1981. In addition to his service with the American Red Cross, Terry also serves on the Board of the Monterey Bay Christian Center, and is the Chair of the Board for Monterey Bay Christian School. A lifelong resident of the Monterey Peninsula, Terry and Theresa have two children, Amanda and Casey.
Naomi Terman has served the chapter in Blood Services, volunteered at the front desk, and has been a member of the Finance, Human Resource and Nominating Committees. She currently Chairs the Volunteer Resource Committee. Her favorite task is meeting and placing new volunteers. The Terman family moved to the peninsula in 1984. Her undergraduate and graduate degrees were obtained from Syracuse and Cornell University. Prior to retirement, she practiced clinical Speech Pathology and Audiology, wrote Creative Dramatics and Language Arts curriculum for NYC, was a demonstration teacher, served as a PTA President, sold real estate, and managed a Carmel medical office for fifteen years. She also serves on the board for the World Affairs Council Monterey Bay. In addition to being a volunteer, Naomi administers several cancer research projects. Spare time is devoted to reading, solving crossword puzzles, exercising, and listening to music.
Sue Addleman is a former Board Chair and now serves as an advisor to the Board. She is also the Vice President for Technical Sales & Support at Cyberware, a Monterey, California technology company that designs, manufactures and markets 3D Scanning systems around the world. Before joining Cyberware, Sue enjoyed a fifteen-year career with the American Red Cross serving in a variety of positions including State Coordinating Chapter Manager, Disaster Relief Specialist, Preparedness Project Director and Business Ethics Facilitator and serving on our board for the past five years with a focus on programs and services, strategic planning, and resource development. Sue holds a degree in psychology from California State University, Chico. Being “solar-powered”, Sue can often be sighted outside, in her natural habitat, hiking, paddling and cycling on and around the Monterey Peninsula.
Sidney M. Morris is a former Board member and now serves as a legal advisor to the Board. He received his B.A. from the University of Louisville in and J.D. from the University of Kentucky. He was a member of the Order of Coif and Notes Editor of the Kentucky Law Journal, served in the United States Navy, and was the Staff Judge Advocate at the Naval Postgraduate School. Sidney associated with the law firm of Millard, Tourangeau, Byers & Fisher (now Heisinger Buck & Morris) in Carmel, California. He taught Wills and Trusts at the Monterey College of Law and is a member of the Monterey County and Kentucky Bar Associations and the State Bar of California. Sidney is a Certified Specialist, Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law, The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He also specializes in Trust Law; Probate; and Estate Planning and has been selected as one of Northern California’s Super Lawyers by Super Lawyers Magazine. Sidney’s civic activities include: serving as President, Carmel Kiwanis Club; Carmel Rotary; President, FOCUS; board member of the Hospice Foundation; legal advisor to Community Foundation for Monterey County; board member of the Junior golf Association; board member and legal advisor of the Carmel Foundation; legal advisor to the Bach Foundation; and legal advisor to the Monterey Museum of Art. Mr. Morris resides in Carmel Valley with his wife, Lynn.
Andrea Thatcher is a former Board Chair and now serves as an advisor to the Board. She has served in leadership roles since 1994. Andrea has served four years as Chair of the Board. She has also chaired the Human Resource, Governance and Executive Search Committees. In her professional life, Andrea planned and implemented volunteer departments in three bay area medical centers and served on the California Hospital Association’s Committee on Volunteer Services and chaired the Director’s Coordinating Council. Locally, she was a founding member of Project St. Bernard, a neighbor-helping-neighbor program, has served on the Church in the Forest Board and presently is a member of the Carmel Foundation Board and chairs the Support and Members Services Committee. She has degrees from Cal Berkeley and the University of San Francisco with majors in Liberal Arts and Human Resources and Organizational Development. She and her husband Peter grew up in Carmel. Andrea most enjoys her family, community involvement and old friends. Special interests include baseball, bridge, knitting, and good books to read.
