Matching Funds
Print  E-mail

From time to time, generous individuals, families or trusts decide to set up matching gift funds. These funds match gifts to the Monterey Bay Area Chapter dollar for dollar. For example, you donate $50 to your local Red Cross, write the name of the matching fund on your check, and the manager of the matching fund will donate another $50. By writing the name of one of these matching funds on your donation, you can double your donation!

Balles Matching Fund

Thanks to the generosity of a local resident, Robert P. Balles, your donation to the Monterey Bay Area Chapter can go twice as far.
Bob Balles attributes his interested in philanthropy to the good example set by his parents. William F. Balles (1907-2004) mentored his son, Bob, in a thrifty and frugal lifestyle, value investing and asset allocation. A successful businessman, churchgoer and exemplary role model to his six children, Bob’s father also gave generously to the needy including personally distributing hundreds of toys to orphaned children each year. Bob’s mother, Marie T. Balles (1909-1991), taught her son the importance of service to others and financial support of great non-profit organizations such as the American Red Cross. Through his trust, Bob has set up a permanent endowment for the Monterey Bay Area Chapter.
To honor his parents’ memory, Bob has also agreed to match donation amounts to a total of $1,500 given to the chapter up until December 31 of this year. To double your donation, simply write “Balles Matching Fund” on your check or donation slip.
